Not Fred

This is my attempt at a story…

Just a piece of it:)

Let me know what you think!

His name wasn’t Fred. In an odd way, he felt it was easier to categorize his fragmented knowledge by calling attention to what wasn’t true rather than what was. How he knew that he wasn’t Fred, he did not consider at all. In addition to not being Fred, he was falling. This wasn’t quite correct though, because although his eyes told him he was falling, he felt no sensation of movement. This had been going on for about 10 minutes, and he was reminded of Zeno’s paradox of motion, for although the terrain below him appeared to be approaching, he (not Fred) seemed to be simultaneously shrinking and he felt that he would never hit. Somewhere in the back of his mind, a baseball player hit a fastball and was launched violently out to the middle of the bay, shocking the few boaters waiting for home runs.
-something was wrong-
A shadow fell over the approaching terrain.
“You’re gonna go crazy if you keep staring at those things.” Fred’s brother Sam flicked off the monitor, leaving the 3D fractals dancing in the fading afterglow of his memory. Fred closed his eyes and ignored his brother.
“Well? Let’s go shoot some pool or something, I’m bored.”
Fred didn’t want to shoot pool, nor did he want to hang out with Sam. “Fine.”
